Position: Salaried GP

We are seeking a motivated and dedicated Salaried GP to join our team. The successful candidate will deliver high-quality primary care services, including consultations, diagnosis, treatment, and preventative care. You will work closely with our multidisciplinary team to ensure our patients receive comprehensive and compassionate care. We are a GP training practice and are at sessional level for Research. We use System One clinical system.

As a Salaried GP you will manage a caseload and deal with a wide range of health needs in a primary care setting, ensuring the highest standards of care for all registered patients.

Main duties of the job
  • Provide general medical services to registered patients
  • Conduct face-to-face, telephone, and online consultations
  • Manage acute and chronic conditions, including prescribing and referrals
  • Participate in clinical meetings and contribute to service development
  • Support the training and supervision of medical students and junior staff (if applicable)
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records

Job responsibilities

Clinical Responsibilities:

In accordance with the Practice timetable, as agreed, the Salaried GP will make him/her-self available to undertake a variety of duties including;

  • Surgery consultations, telephone consultations, visiting patients at home and in nursing homes, checking and signing repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, paperwork and correspondence in a timely fashion.
  • Reviewing patient test results as and when required
  • In consultation with patients and in line with current Practice disease management protocol, developing care plans for health
  • Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other health care workers within the organisation
  • Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness
  • Cover all the clinical management of the patients in surgery as appropriate including initiating investigations, reviewing results, making referrals to secondary care or to other providers as appropriate
  • Ensuring appropriate follow up of patients
  • Recording clear and contemporaneous computerised consultation notes to agreed standards
  • To collect and record data for the purposes of the QOF
  • Compiling and issuing computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions (avoiding hand-written prescriptions whenever possible)
  • Prescribing generically whenever appropriately and in accordance with the Practice prescribing formulary, NICE guidance and Good Prescribing Practice (as defined by British National Formulary guidance)
  • In general the post-holder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care.
Person Specification Qualifications
  • GMC registered with a license to practice
  • Inclusion on the NHS Performers List
  • Excellent clinical, diagnostic, and communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team

  • Working well in a multidisciplinary environment
  • Awareness of and compliance with all relevant national clinical policies and guidelines
  • A good working knowledge of the GP contract, QOF, enhanced services, Universal Offer and Primary Care
