Senior Civil Engineer – Buildings

Stantec is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer in Birmingham, United Kingdom. Join our Buildings team to collaborate on multidisciplinary projects across the entire lifecycle.

We invite an experienced engineer with expertise in civil engineering design for building projects. The successful candidate will deliver projects from feasibility and concept through construction, working closely with clients, contractors and multidisciplinary teams.

• Lead the development of civil engineering planning and design solutions.
• Prepare plans and drawings from concept through to construction.
• Design earthworks, internal site roads, pavements, drainage and prepare associated specifications.
• Ensure high‑quality delivery in design through QA checks.
• Liaise with local authorities and stakeholders to obtain necessary approvals.
• Deliver highway schemes (S38/S278 preliminary and detailed) and S104 applications.
• Prepare fee proposals and determine project scope, budget and programme.
• Delegate and supervise junior team members and act as a coach.
• Liaise with clients, third parties and multidisciplinary teams on all relevant project aspects.

• Degree‑qualified and Chartered or incorporated engineer (or progressing toward chartership) with the ICE.
• Proven experience delivering commercially successful projects with strong client engagement skills.
• Experience in coaching and managing junior engineers and collaborating with wider project delivery teams.
• Experience producing drainage strategies for planning and sustainable drainage solutions for building developments.
• Knowledge or interest in earthworks modelling, pavement design, info drainage and AutoCAD/Civil 3D.
