About The Role Strategic Infrastructure delivers major strategic UK electricity transmission projects, focused on connecting more clean, low‑carbon power to England and Wales. As a Graduate Electrical Engineer, you’ll help deliver safe, efficient, and innovative infrastructure projects that power the nation. Based at one of our offices, you’ll spend time working across various sites, gaining hands‑on experience in a dynamic construction environment.

You’ll work closely with a wide range of colleagues and contractors, requiring strong time and project management skills to ensure work is delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to a high standard across all stages of delivery: design, procurement, construction and commissioning.

Responsibilities
  • Champion safe working practices across all project phases.
  • Support budget planning, cost control and financial reporting.
  • Identify and mitigate risks to the electrical network.
  • Assist in sourcing and managing suppliers and contractors.
  • Support SAP responsibilities under supervision.
  • Support the development and maintenance of our Quality Management System.
  • Ensure engineering solutions meet National Grid policies and specifications.
  • Observe contractor activities to ensure compliance with Health & Safety legislation, environmental regulations and CDM standards.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 2:2 in Electrical or Electronics Engineering.
  • Currently hold a full valid UK driving licence.
  • Flexibility to travel within the role and throughout rotations.

Location:

This role is based in central Birmingham and you’ll be expected to travel around this region as part of your role. We offer flexible hybrid working, where possible.

What You’ll Get In Return:
We are proud to offer a graduate starting salary of £36,640.

What you’ll need to apply

You need to achieve, or be working towards, a minimum 2:2 in a Electrical or Electronics Engineering. It doesn’t matter when you graduated or if you are currently working towards your qualification. We just need you to be eager to apply your knowledge in a real‑world setting.

Assessment centres will be held between November – April 2026.
