We inspect all types of plant and equipment including lifts, lifting equipment, pressure systems, power presses, press brakes and local exhaust ventilation.
From our Head Office at our purpose built, state of the art facility in Rawtenstall, Lancashire, Thurra serves many parts of the UK via our extensive network of engineers.
Our Engineer Surveyors are responsible for carrying out engineering inspections, meeting the statutory examination and contractual inspection obligations of our clients’ plant and equipment.
Typical examinations include equipment defined in LOLER 98, PSSR 2000, PUWER as well as its application to power presses and LEV equipment defined in COSHH.

As an Engineer Surveyor, you will carry out thorough engineering inspections across a range of client sites within your allocated region. Working independently from home, you will ensure plant and equipment is examined in line with statutory requirements, industry standards and Thurra procedures.
KEYDUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Carry out statutory engineering inspections on a range of equipment - for example,lifting equipment, pressure systems, power presses, press brakes and LEV systems, in line with LOLER, PSSR, PUWER and COSHH requirements.
- Plan and organise daily workloads from home, including liaising with clients regarding site access and plant preparation.
- Produce high quality, accurate inspection reports in a timely manner.
- Ensure tools and testing equipment are maintained in good condition and remain in calibration.
- Work safely at all times, following Thurra and client health & safety procedures, and raise any concerns where work cannot be performed safely.
- Deliver excellent customer service, acting professionally and courteously on all client sites.
- Maintain client confidentiality in line with our Quality Management System and ISO/IEC 17020.
Essential
- Mechanical Engineering ONC with relevant experience
- NVQ Level III as well as City & Guild full Tech Cert or equivalent
- Full UK driving licence
- A satisfactory Enhanced DBS certificate
- Incorporated Engineer as defined by Engineering Council or equivalent (e.g. appropriate HNC with relevant experience, NVQ Level IV)
- City and Guild full Tech Cert or equivalent
- Experience of working within engineering discipline associated with in-service inspection
The post holder will cover a geographical region around Birmingham and the surrounding area.
