Job description content is focused on utilities coordination and engineering leadership within WSP's Development team, with emphasis on delivering sustainable infrastructure solutions across planning to implementation, and opportunities for professional chartership and development.
The RoleThe management of utilities risk is of great importance to our Clients. Issues such as capacity shortages, encroachment on ageing assets and commercial opportunities are increasingly requiring a particular skill set to manage. If you have a background in utilities coordination and would like to work for one of the world’s premier Consulting Engineering Firms, WSP is currently recruiting for a Principal level Utilities Infrastructure Engineer.
Responsibilities- Working out of the WSP Leeds office, in the heart of the city, with easy access to transport, amenities and open spaces.
- Work within multidisciplinary teams to maintain existing and develop new client relationships – winning work.
- Collaborate with a diverse range of clients to deliver complex and demanding schemes.
- Bid for, win, and deliver schemes on budget.
- Ensure a high standard of work and information is provided to clients.
- Provide an experienced senior point of contact for clients on key projects.
- Mentor team members.
- Contribute to the company’s turnover and profitability.
- Maintain quality service and professional reputation; be commercially aware and efficient at problem solving.
- Chartered Engineer or working towards Chartered Engineer status.
- Civil Engineering degree or equivalent qualification.
- Experience delivering utility connections, diversions and utility infrastructure strategies for schemes of varying size in the UK.
- Understanding of Electricity, Gas, Water and Telecommunications networks owners.
- Experience with Multi-utility / iDNO / ICP offerings would be beneficial.
- Ability to develop utility demand calculations based on development needs.
- Project experience on large multi-disciplinary infrastructure schemes.
- Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently and organise time effectively.
- Working knowledge of BIM standards and protocols.
- Excellent communication skills to engage with co-professionals and deliver high-quality reports.
- AutoCAD / Civils 3D or similar software with 2D drawing and 3D modelling capability.
- Proven ability to develop and maintain strong client relationships.
- Technical and commercial understanding of the industry.
- Ability to communicate technical detail effectively and network effectively.
- Must be able to obtain UK Security Check (SC).
