RoleThe Nuclear Equipment Surveyor role requires a combination of administrative and technical skills. In the pre‑manufacturing phase, the successful candidate will review procedures and inspection plans to establish conformity with international codes and standards and project‑specific requirements. They will communicate findings to the manufacturer and end client both online and face‑to‑face. In the manufacturing phase, the successful candidate will supervise on‑site inspectors remotely, review and collate inspection reports, and communicate findings to the end customer.
Periodic visits to manufacturing locations in the UK and Europe will be required. Technical skills include welding, materials, heat treatment and NDT. The role will be predominantly home‑based; candidates must be able to work unsupervised for extended periods. The role is restricted to UK nationals and will require security clearance.
- Review procedures and inspection plans to establish conformity with international codes and standards and project‑specific requirements.
- Conduct inspections on site.
- Act as a technical decision‑maker.
- Create and issue inspection deliverables.
- Supervise on‑site inspectors, review and collate inspection reports, and communicate findings to the end customer.
- Attend online and face‑to‑face meetings, and periodic visits to manufacturing locations in the UK and Europe.
- Explain review findings to the manufacturer and the end client.
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Technical skills in welding, materials, heat treatment and NDT.
- Ability to use and understand international standards such as ASME and the BS EN ISO series.
