We are expanding our Bridges team and have an exciting opportunity for a number of Bridge Engineers to join our talented, multidisciplinary group. This is a key role for a technically strong and driven engineer with a passion for major bridge design and delivery, both in the UK and internationally.
Working hours:
BST 8:00 - 18:00 (Mon/Thu) and 8:00 - 16:00 (Fri).
- Lead & Deliver:
Take charge of bridge engineering projects across the UK and abroad—covering feasibility, design, and construction phases. - Design Excellence:
Perform complex structural analysis and design using advanced software tools, applying international standards including Eurocodes and AASHTO. - Project Oversight:
Manage budgets, monitor timelines, and ensure project milestones are met. - Collaborate & Coordinate:
Work closely with internal teams, external consultants, and clients to deliver integrated engineering solutions. - Technical Development:
Contribute to innovation, best practices, and quality standards across the business. - Mentorship:
Support the technical growth of junior engineers and help guide their Chartership journey. - Business Growth:
Assist with business development, client engagement, and proposal preparation.
- Chartered status (ICE or IStruct
E). - Significant experience in bridge design and construction, including large-scale (£100m+) infrastructure projects.
- Strong understanding of various bridge forms – segmental, arch, extradosed, cable-stayed.
- Proficient in structural analysis/design software such as LUSAS, MIDAS, RM Bridge, or Autodesk Structural Bridge Design.
- Expertise in concrete, steel, composite materials, FRC and CFRP.
- Familiarity with international standards and construction methods.
- Technical Expertise:
Advanced structural design and numerical modelling capabilities. - Leadership:
Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and mentor junior staff. - Communication:
Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills. - Critical Thinking:
Solution-oriented, adaptable, and proactive in managing complex problems. - Project Management:
Capable of delivering projects to time, quality, and cost targets. - IT Proficiency:
Strong in Excel and general MS Office; programming/scripting skills a plus.
