Senior Engineer

Position: Senior Engineer (Permanent, Contract)
Location: Nechells

My client is a leading civil engineering and groundworks company based in Birmingham, currently looking for a Senior Engineer/Project Engineer, for the HS2 project. This is a key role on a high-profile infrastructure scheme, offering long-term stability and the opportunity to work on one of the UK's largest civil engineering projects.

The Role

As Senior Engineer, you will take responsibility for the technical delivery of works on site, with a particular focus on reinforced concrete (RC) structures and drainage packages. You will support site management, oversee setting out and quality control, and mentor junior engineers.

Key Responsibilities:

Managing and coordinating RC frame and drainage works on site
Overseeing setting out, surveying, and quality assurance
Ensuring works are delivered in line with drawings, specifications, and HS2 standards
Reviewing RAMS, ITPs, and technical documentation
Liaising with site management, subcontractors, and design teams
Supporting and mentoring Site Engineers and Junior Engineers
Ensuring strict compliance with health, safety, and environmental requirements

About You

Proven experience as a Senior Engineer on major civil engineering projects
Strong background in RC frames and drainage
Experience working on large infrastructure or rail projects (HS2 experience advantageous but not essential)
Excellent understanding of engineering drawings and specifications
Competent with surveying equipment (GPS, Total Station)
Relevant civil engineering qualification (HNC/HND/Degree)
