Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Company Accountant to join our dynamic recycling business. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the financial operations, managing a team of four direct reports, and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records. This role requires a strategic thinker with strong leadership skills and a deep understanding of accounting principles and practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the daily financial operations of the company, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger.
- Manage and mentor a team of four accounting staff, providing guidance and support to ensure high performance and professional development.
- Prepare and analyse financial statements, budgets, and forecasts to provide insights and recommendations to senior management.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant financial regulations and standards.
- Conduct regular financial audits and implement internal controls to safeguard company assets.
- Collaborate with other departments to support business objectives and improve financial processes.
- Manage cash flow, banking relationships, and investment activities.
- Prepare and present financial reports to the CFO and other stakeholders on a monthly basis, including consolidated entity information.
- Assist in the development and implementation of financial strategies and policies.
Qualifications:
- Fully Qualified Accountant preferred (CIMA, ACCA, ACA)
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and regulatory requirements.
- Proficiency in accounting software (Sage Line 50) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and decision‑making skills.
- Strong leadership and team management abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience in the scrap metal or manufacturing industry is a plus.
