We have an exciting opportunity for a Consultant Psychiatrist to join our mental health team at HMP Stocken. HMP Stocken is a category C training prison housing around 1056 patients the majority of whom are aged between 21-40 years of age.

You will be working closely with the multidisciplinary team consisting of mental health nurses, social workers, healthcare support workers and admin staff, to deliver support to adult males with complex mental health and trauma needs.

Hours

20 hours per week works across 2.5 days with flexibility around times and days worked to best meet the needs of the successful candidate, and the service. We also have opportunities at other establishments in the region to uplift to full time hours if required.

Salary

This position is 20 hours per week you’ll receive an annual salary up to £186,480 per annum FTE - depending on experience.

How will we support you?
  • Working as part of a supportive, multidisciplinary team, with a wide range of experiences.
  • You will be part of a team of 20 plus experienced and supportive Consultant psychiatrists.
  • You will be able to attend monthly Consultant's meeting and 1:1 clinical supervision.
  • Bespoke induction, including our Introducing Health in Justice training course.
  • Competency framework.

What you’ll be doing

As a Consultant Psychiatrist, your responsibilities will vary. You will

  • Provide excellent clinical care, assessment and treatment to patients on the case load onsite.
  • Actively participate in the strategic direction of the mental health service, lead the senior mental health clinicians on service developments and provide clinical supervision.
  • Work within the multi-disciplinary team to review referrals, determine appropriate treatment plans, conduct risk assessments, and engage in multi professional complex case reviews.

Qualifications required
  • Registered professional with current registration (GMC).
  • Specialist Registration in either General Adult or Forensic Psychiatry.
  • Approved under section 12 (2) of the MHS 1983.
  • Understanding of the complexities of multi-disciplinary and multi-agency working.
  • Up to date knowledge in the adult psychiatry and PD.
  • Awareness of current issues in mental health service provision, policy and legislation.
