We are looking to recruit a support worker to work Thursday evening shifts between 6pm and 10pm every week, with the option to provide ad hoc cover for other permanent members of a small team supporting our client living in her home and the community. Due to the intimate nature of the role, we are specifically looking to hire an experienced female who can provide the highest level of care and support to our client.
This is an exception to the Equality Act 2010.
- Assisting with all aspects of self‑care and domestic tasks.
- Assisting with activities within the home, including cooking, baking and craft work.
- Assisting with community access and companionship.
- Providing a daily written record of work, noting any changes or significant events.
- Encouraging the client to live a full, active and valued life.
- Administering and keeping a record of any medication prescribed.
- Positive, friendly, fun and bubbly personality.
- At least one year of previous care experience.
- Enjoys being sociable, enjoys music, and loves animals (client has cats and dogs).
- Open‑minded and willing to learn new skills.
- Basic education with good written and verbal communication skills in English.
- No specific qualifications required, but must be able and willing to follow mandatory training and learn specific skills to work effectively with the client according to the care plan.
- Ability to provide a high standard of therapeutic support with a caring and professional approach.
- Capable of completing domestic tasks, general cleaning and dusting.
- Awareness of spinal cord injuries and catheter care would be advantageous (skilled nurses available for any required clinical training).
- A full clean driving licence and ability to drive the client’s wheelchair‑accessible vehicle.
- At least one year of professional experience working as a carer with adults.
- Salaried position:
Thursday evenings 6pm‑10pm. - Ad hoc cover: 9am to 1pm and 6pm‑10pm, Monday to Sunday (when required due to other staff absences).
- 5.6 weeks holiday pay pro‑rata (including bank holidays).
- Pension.
- Payment to attend all training.
- Free parking.
