Join us for the Band 6 Specialist Speech and Language Therapist role at East Midlands Community Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust (Birmingham Community Healthcare NHS FT).
Job SummaryWe are looking for a dynamic and innovative speech and language therapist to join our team on the regional Inpatient Neuro Rehabilitation Unit (INRU). The team comprises of speech & language therapists, physiotherapists, clinical psychologists, occupational therapists, dietitians, doctors, nurses, rehabilitation assistants, admin staff and skilled support staff all working together to achieve the best outcomes for our patients. You must enjoy working within an interdisciplinary team and be passionate about supporting adults with complex acquired neurological conditions to achieve their goals.
MainDuties
- Provide assessment and treatment for patients with a variety of speech, language and swallowing needs resulting from complex neurological conditions.
- Manage patients with tracheostomies, supporting them through RCSLT tracheostomy competencies.
- Support the rollout of an in-house FEES service, providing CPD and supervision.
- Keywork, supervise and support junior speech & language therapists, students and support staff.
- Demonstrate excellent communication skills, flexibility and clinical leadership.

Job Details- Salary: £38,682 to £46,580 a year (pro rata)

- First degree in Speech and Language Therapy or a relevant Masters post-graduate qualification.
- HCPC Licence to Practice and registered with the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists.
- Post-qualification training or qualification in dysphagia.
- Evidence of recent relevant CPD activities.
- Significant experience in a specialised clinical area, assessing and treating complex neuro-disability.
- Experience providing training to professionals in your specialism.
- Ability to develop specialised programmes of care and use alternative means of communication.
- Highly developed empathy, negotiation and influencing skills and demonstrates clinical leadership within a team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to overcome barriers to communication.
- Basic skills in the management of communication and swallowing needs in patients with neuro-acquired conditions.
