8. Closing date: 4th January 2026. Salary: £47,389 – £56,535 with potential progression to £63,606.
The Core Systems Optimisation Team (CSOT) delivers, maintains and continually enhances the University’s Core Systems. This role is the Data & Reporting Systems Lead, the University’s authoritative specialist for Oracle-based reporting, data integrity, user governance and data security.
Responsibilities- Develop, maintain and optimise complex Oracle OTBI and BI Publisher (BIP) reports.
- Lead design, development and deployment of data and reporting solutions.
- Write, troubleshoot and performance‑tune advanced SQL queries.
- Act as technical authority for Oracle reporting enhancements and cross‑system integrations.
- Lead University‑wide Business Intelligence system implementation projects.
- Lead data and reporting projects from initiation to delivery – scoping, requirements gathering, analysis, stakeholder engagement, testing, deployment and evaluation.
- Provide expert input into institutional data strategy, reporting frameworks and governance processes.
- Produce high‑quality technical documentation, user guides and training materials.
- Manage user roles, permissions and access controls across Oracle systems, ensuring compliance with GDPR and segregation‑of‑duties.
- Oversee data security practices including monitoring, auditing and implementation of proactive controls.
- Support OCI environments where required.
- Identify opportunities to enhance reporting processes, data flows and system governance.
- Keep up to date with industry developments and advise on adoption of new tools/technologies.
- Proven expertise in BI reporting Oracle OTBI and BI Publisher.
- Strong proficiency in SQL.
- Experience managing data and user access permissions and data security.
- Experience leading or coordinating complex data/reports projects with institution‑wide impact.
- Excellent communication skills – able to translate complex technical concepts to non‑specialists.
- Strategic thinking, problem solving, analytical capability.
- Organisational and leadership skills – planning, coordination, balancing long‑term and short‑term demands.
- Desirable:
Oracle Cloud Infrastructure experience, project management.
