The Role

Ecclesiastical Insurance, part of Benefact Group, seeks a Regional Underwriting Manager for our Birmingham office. In this role, you'll lead the delivery of underwriting strategy and performance for the region, representing a key figurehead across the territory with partner brokers and key customers, and play a leading role within UK-wide key strategic underwriting change initiatives and projects.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Regional portfolio management of an expanding Property & Casualty portfolio across specialist niches such as Property Owners, Leisure, Education, Care, Charity, Heritage, Faith, and Office Professions.
  • Act as the senior regional underwriting referral point, providing innovative, customer‑focused solutions and support.
  • Drive the proactive technical/non‑technical development and coaching of regional trading teams to deliver market‑leading expertise.
  • Work in partnership with the Regional Director, UK Property Director, UK Casualty Director and Sales & Distribution Director to achieve financial objectives, including growth initiatives for the region.
  • Serve as the senior underwriting figurehead within the market with partner brokers and key customers.
What You'll Need To Have
  • Proven track record in a senior underwriting leadership role, driving strategic outcomes and team performance.
  • Significant technical expertise in both Property and Casualty.
  • Experience coaching others to achieve higher performance and capability in their roles.
  • Ability to build and manage cooperative and productive relationships internally and externally within the market.
  • Proven ability to apply critical thinking to situations outside normal underwriting guidelines and devise appropriate solutions.
