The Opportunity

I am recruiting on behalf of a major Main Contractor delivering a flagship, high-value £multi-million high-rise development in the heart of the city centre. This is a landmark scheme with significant complexity, challenging logistics, and the opportunity to showcase your expertise on a project that will define the skyline for decades to come.

As Managing Quantity Surveyor / Commercial Lead, you will take full commercial responsibility for the project, leading a dedicated commercial team and ensuring robust commercial control throughout the build.

This is a long-term project with substantial pipeline beyond—ideal for someone seeking stability, influence, and progression within a top-tier contractor.

Key Responsibilities

* Lead the commercial function on a high-rise, city-centre project from pre-construction through to final account.

* Manage, develop and mentor commercial team members.

* Oversee procurement strategy, subcontractor management, and contractual compliance.

* Ensure accurate forecasting, cost planning, reporting and risk management.

* Drive value engineering opportunities and maintain tight financial control.

* Liaise closely with the project leadership team, client, designers and external stakeholders.

* Navigate the logistical and operational challenges unique to complex city-centre high-rise construction.

About You

We are seeking a commercially strong leader with the confidence and capability to run a major project of this scale.

Essential experience includes:

* Proven track record as a Managing QS, Senior QS stepping up, or Commercial Lead on high-rise or large-scale mixed-use schemes.

* Experience delivering complex builds within tight, built-up city-centre environments.

* Strong contractual knowledge (NEC / JCT).

* Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills.

* Ability to lead teams, build relationships, and make commercially astute decisions.
