An exciting opportunity has arisen in our Prevention Team for an experienced Safeguarding Manager. As one of our two Safeguarding Managers, you will jointly act as the Delegated Designated Safeguarding Lead.
This post is subject to ongoing finance approval and is offered as a temporary contract for 6 months. It is a 0.8 FTE position (four days per week) with preference for Thursday and Friday as core days.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage safeguarding responsibilities across the organisation.
  • Work with the Safeguarding Oversight and Assurance Group, internal departments, local authorities and other organisations to develop, coordinate and quality assure safeguarding policy, process and practice within WMFS.
  • Ensure that WMFS effectively discharges its safeguarding duty and that policy, process and practice are properly implemented.
  • Give professional advice and guidance in relation to safeguarding so that staff and volunteers can effectively safeguard themselves and others.
Experience and Skills

Skills and behaviours:

  • Ability to take responsibility and make decisions at a strategic and operational level.
  • Work independently and autonomously while adapting to team working when required.
  • Self‑motivated, persistent and able to persuade and influence others.
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills, including excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Knowledge of local government and public sector governance and policy‑making structures.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development.

Qualifications and experience:

  • Relevant knowledge and experience of safeguarding, ideally as a Designated Safeguarding Lead or similar role.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding legislation and a robust understanding of good practice.
  • Experience of networking, partnership development, management and evaluation.
  • Ideally a degree‑level qualification in a relevant discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • Supervisory experience.
  • Experience of developing strategy and plans.
