We are looking for a commercially driven and strategically minded Commercial Manager to lead the financial and contractual delivery of complex infrastructure programmes across the rail sector. This is a leadership role that demands strong stakeholder engagement, commercial foresight, and the ability to drive value throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the commercial strategy and execution across multiple high-value rail and aviation projects
- Oversee contract management, including negotiation, administration, and dispute resolution under NEC contracts
- Manage cost planning, forecasting, and reporting, ensuring robust financial governance and risk mitigation
- Drive value engineering and cost optimisation initiatives in collaboration with project and design teams
- Lead procurement strategies, supplier engagement, and subcontractor performance reviews
- Develop and maintain client relationships, ensuring transparency, trust, and commercial alignment
- Provide strategic input into bid development, tender evaluations, and commercial submissions
- Mentor and manage a team of Quantity Surveyors and commercial professionals, fostering a high-performance culture
- Degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or a related discipline
- Chartered status (MRICS, MCIPS, or equivalent) preferred but not essential
- Minimum 8-10 years' experience in commercial roles, with significant exposure to rail and/or aviation infrastructure
- Proven track record in managing multi-million-pound contracts and commercial teams
- Deep understanding of NEC3/4 Contracts options A, C &
E. - Strong leadership, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills
- Willingness to travel across the UK as required
