• Elimination of waste
  • Assist in and Support the ME plans on existing and new production lines.
  • Support ME Improvement objectives by supporting the Maintenance departments in the manufacturing of new die’s, punches etc.
  • Utilise all allocated resources within your control effectively at all times.
  • Participate in daily Production and Project related planning. On site (22 Birmingham Rd), Head Office (No. 14 Lincoln Rd.), 31 Lincoln Rd. and Rosslyn.
  • Ensure all agreed to ME facilities, Tooling, Jigs & Fixtures improvements are timeously planned and implemented as requested through implementation and/or reported losses.
  • Propose support and document most cost effective improvement strategies with timings to achieve improvement objectives.
  • Planned tasks are carried out according to planned Schedule.
  • Ensure backlogs are closed off
  • Labour Control best practices
  • Headcount, Attendance, Normal time, Overtime
  • Ensure equipment and spares for maintenance are always available for planned and unplanned maintenance
  • Ensure critical spares are in place
• Quality
  • Meet or exceed customer Quality requirements
  • Ensure manufacture of new/replacement parts meet requirements that meet quality requirements
  • Analyse 2D drawings. Interpret 2D drawings and ensure that the specific requirements are fully understood.
  • Analyse 3D CAD data. Design using 3D CAD data from the customer / suppliers, using available software packages inside the organization
  • Review die designs, Support with die designs
  • Using internally developed processes that adhere to the design requirements of the Customer, the manufacturing process and the design standard of the organization
  • Analyse data received from Tooling suppliers
  • Manufacturing approval of manufacturing processes for production in the organization
  • Tools, jigs, fixtures and manufacturing processes will need to be maintained and approved to ensure that production will be possible in the organization
  • Support in trial activities. Manufacturing processes will be trialled, measured and approved within the organization.
• Continuous Improvement
  • Support and Management in closing off Tooling related Problem Solving Activities.
  • To ensure the loop is closed by implementation of Corrective Actions and Preventative Actions.
  • Cost Saving implementation strategies
  • Budgeted improvements in Materials, Labour and OT agreed to costs are planned, measured and met.
  • Ensure Design Standards are adhered to and aligned to design standards
  • Using experience from previous developments and past experiences, all design modifications are to be kept up to date according to the best practice of the organization
  • Support closing off Engineering related problem solving activities
  • Implementation of Corrective Actions and Preventative Actions.
• 5S, Safety Health & Environmental
  • Ensure 5S direction to defined standards
  • Ensure 5S condition is sustained and improvement activities planned and tracked.
  • Measure and follow up on all 5S improvement activities to ensure 5S is sustained.
  • Ensure PPE is worn according to work standards.
  • Ensure that the SHEMS policy and procedures are implemented and followed.
  • Comply with all applicable compliance obligations to which the company subscribes in your area of responsibility
  • Compliance with legal and Environmental acts and municipal regulations.
  • Provide a workplace that is without risk and of injury and ill-health.
  • Ensure manufacture meets appropriate safety standards
• Delivery
  • Improvement Management. Involved in new & current Projects. Ensure Project implementation complies with agreed timing and cost parameters
  • Manage scrap. Ensure actions are entrenched to manage / eliminate the production of scrap.
  • Risk based thinking. Evaluation and mitigation of RISK
  • Manage IR and HR Items. Recruitment Approval and selection process, Personnel Management, Disciplinary process participation.
  • Assist in Identify faults on Tooling. Responsible for manufacture of dies, punches that require repair or replacement.
  • Ensure that part manufacture is done in accordance to agreed schedules so that the plant does not stop due to preventative maintenance not carried out. Maintain and manage dies, punches that require repair or replacement
  • Assist Purchasing in Tooling related requirements. Provide purchasing the correct information pertaining to bought outs, material and/or tooling with respect to the designated factory.

  • Responsible for own personal attendance to ensure it is 98% on an ongoing basis.
