Veterinary Referral Clinician - ECC

Blaise Veterinary Referral Hospital, Birmingham, Birmingham, West Midlands

We are looking for an experienced Diplomate (ACVECC/ECVECC) to join our ECC referral service, with potential leadership roles for the right candidate. ECC is at the core of our hospital, having adopted a similar model to the Vets Now hospitals in Manchester and Glasgow that are part of our referral division. The service operates 7 days a week, taking referrals of Emergency cases from across the Midlands and providing advanced critical care services to inpatients.

Your role you would also be supported by the Clinical Director, Andrew Kent (DipECVIM-CA), and the National Lead in ECC at IVC Evidensia - Dr Daniel Lewis (DACVECC/DECVECC).

You will assist in the development of a collaborative culture within your discipline, and work closely alongside colleagues in other disciplines to provide exceptional clinical care.

Blaise is home to the largest Intensive Care Unit in the region, and facilities include high-flow oxygen, ventilation, incubators, thromboelastography with platelet mapping, blood gases, a dedicated ICU procedures room and multiple ultrasound units with plans to continue to extend this equipment in the coming months.

Blaise is a large scale, multi-disciplinary referral hospital which encompasses the culture and high clinical standards IVC prides itself upon. Blaise has added to IVC’s extensive referral network, which now consists of over 100 referral sites across UK & Ireland. This was the first purpose built hospital in our group, providing an opportunity to be part of something special and continue to shape our future.

The hospital is one of the largest in the UK at over 36,000 sq ft, with the capacity to treat up to 10,000 pets per year. From the site we provide specialist led multi-disciplinary veterinary referrals and a 24/7 emergency service. The site has easy access from the A38 through Longbridge and is part of the West Longbridge regeneration project.
