Position: Donor Assistant (Midlands)

Donor Assistant (Midlands)

Pet Blood Bank UK is an award‑winning animal charity based in Loughborough. We are recruiting for a part‑time Donor Assistant to support our Collection Team at donation sessions across the Midlands on alternate Saturdays and Sundays. Minimum 45 sessions per year.

About the role
  • Part‑time: minimum 45 sessions a year, 8‑hour sessions plus 1 hour to pack/unpack kit.
  • Schedules: alternate Saturdays and Sundays; option for extra Tuesday or Thursday sessions.
  • Pay: £12.60 per hour (plus base salary of £5,103 p.a).
  • Travel: must be within 1 hour drive of Loughborough; travel time paid.
What you’ll do
  • Prepare and pack the collection session kit.
  • Travel to and from collection sessions from Loughborough in a Pet Blood Bank vehicle.
  • Assist the Veterinary Surgeon and Veterinary Nurse with all donors for health checks, donation and post‑donation tasks.
  • Assist with paperwork and running blood tests.
  • Help hold donors during the donation process and monitor them throughout.
  • Build rapport with donors and their owners to ensure a positive experience.
  • Maintain a good relationship with host venues.
  • Communicate with Pet Blood Bank staff, including your regional collection team, Regional Coordinator, Area Manager and office staff.
  • Assist with and support the training of new team members and keep training records.
  • Attend events to promote Pet Blood Bank and recruit donors and volunteers.
What we need
  • Full UK manual driving licence and ability to drive different vehicles with passengers.
  • Good problem‑solving, proactive, organised and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communicator with strong customer care skills.
  • Team player.
  • Experience in animal care (qualification ideal but not essential) and love of working with dogs.
  • Availability on Saturdays and Sundays.
