This maternity‑cover post of 12 months (potential for further funding) joins the PHRESH Consortium – a multidisciplinary academic partnership between the Universities of Birmingham, Warwick and Keele. The post holder will support the PHRESH PHIRST team within the NIHR Public Health Interventions Responsive Studies Team (PHIRST), deliver evaluations for UK councils, and assist the School for Public Health Research with related projects.
RoleSummary
- Work within the PHRESH PHIRST and PHRESH School for Public Health Research teams.
- Contribute to the design, conduct and analysis of research projects.
- Generate funding proposals and support licensing or spin‑out activities.
- Develop research objectives and protocols for PHIRST or SPHR projects, with mentor support where required.
- Write bids for research funding.
- Analyse and interpret data, developing new intellectual understanding.
- Disseminate findings through publications, seminars and posters.
- Supervise and provide guidance to PhD and other research students.
- Contribute to new models, techniques and methods.
- Handle management and administrative tasks arising from research.
- Engage in enterprise, business development and public engagement activities benefiting the College and University.
- Collect research data via literature reviews, interviews, surveys and physical measurements.
- Present research outputs and support staff and students.
- Troubleshoot problems affecting research objectives and deadlines.
- Promote equality and diversity, fostering an inclusive workplace.
- First degree and normally a PhD (or near‑completion) in a relevant research area.
- High‑level research and analytical capability with evidence of mixed‑methods expertise.
- Strong communication skills for complex information.
- Fluency in relevant models, techniques or methods, and ability to develop new ones.
- Resource assessment and effective use of resources.
- Understanding of broader management and administrative processes.
- Planning and organising research programmes or projects.
- Co‑ordinate own work with others to avoid conflict or duplication.
- Knowledge of the Equality Act 2010 and ability to ensure equal treatment of protected characteristics in daily activity.
