Sales Engineer

Role at FORGE – Sales Engineer

Salary: £28k - £32k DOE

Working Hours: Monday to Thursday 8am - 4.30pm & Friday 8am - 1pm

Key Responsibilities
  • Work toward achieving and exceeding sales targets within a 12-month cycle, with quarterly performance reviews.
  • Identify, approach, and secure new business opportunities while nurturing and strengthening relationships with existing customers.
  • Gain a deep understanding of customer needs to provide tailored technical and commercial solutions.
  • Deliver compelling product demonstrations and presentations to showcase capabilities and value.
  • Respond promptly to customer enquiries, ensuring a high level of service and satisfaction.
  • Collaborate closely with the wider sales team to develop and implement effective sales strategies.
  • Represent the company at trade shows, exhibitions, and industry events to promote products and expand brand presence.
  • Generate leads through proactive prospecting and cold calling to build a strong sales pipeline.
  • Schedule and conduct follow-up meetings to maintain and grow existing accounts.
  • Stay informed on industry trends, competitor activity, and emerging technologies.
  • Prepare and negotiate sales proposals, quotations, and contract terms to successfully close deals.
  • Produce accurate costings and detailed technical quotations aligned with customer requirements.
  • Liaise with production and engineering teams to ensure customer deadlines and specifications are met.
  • Communicate effectively across departments to ensure smooth project handover and delivery.
Qualifications & Skills
  • Excellent communication and negotiation abilities with a professional, customer‑focused approach.
  • Proven sales experience, ideally within the manufacturing or industrial sector.
  • Strong ability to build and maintain long‑term customer relationships.
  • A full, valid driving licence essential for travel to customer sites.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).
  • Familiar with CRM systems.
  • Skilled in market research and customer insight gathering to identify opportunities and tailor solutions.
