We’re looking for a talented and motivated Senior Software Developer to join the Fourteen Fish team at Optum UK. You’ll be part of a collaborative, forward-thinking group building world‑class solutions that improve the lives of healthcare professionals.

This role will see you working across our product suite, contributing to the design, development, and delivery of innovative software. Our tech stack includes C# (.Net Core), MySQL, HTML / CSS, JavaScript, and containerized workloads in AWS.

What you’ll do

At Optum UK, we believe in the power of technology to make healthcare faster, better, and more accessible. As part of the Fourteen Fish team, you’ll play a key role in building tools that support clinicians and trainees in their day-to-day work.

Key responsibilities include :
  • Designing, developing, testing, and maintaining high-quality software solutions.
  • Collaborating with product managers, designers, and clinicians to translate requirements into technical specifications.
  • Building and maintaining C# / .Net applications using best practices and design patterns.
  • Developing RESTful APIs for seamless integration with internal and external systems.
  • Optimising application performance and conducting code reviews.
  • Contributing to continuous process improvement within the team.
  • Supporting Dev Ops practices including CI / CD and automated deployments.
  • Troubleshooting and resolving software issues to minimise downtime.
  • Staying up to date with emerging technologies and healthcare IT trends.
  • Mentoring junior team members and supporting colleagues.
  • Communicating clearly through documentation and technical proposals.
Who you’ll be

You’ll be an experienced software engineer who takes pride in delivering high-quality solutions. You’ll be proactive, curious, and comfortable working independently or as part of a team.

We’re looking for someone with :
  • Strong proficiency in C#, .Net Core, and MVC.
  • Experience designing and developing RESTful APIs.
  • Solid front-end skills including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and React.
  • Familiarity with microservices and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Experience with AWS and cloud-based deployments.
  • Proficiency with MySQL and writing efficient SQL queries.
  • Understanding of Dev Ops practices including CI / CD, Git / Git Hub, and infrastructure automation.
