gap construction are seeking a Trainee Estimator to join a leading contractor with a strong reputation for delivering high-quality public-sector refurbishment and new-build projects.

This is an exciting opportunity to become a key member of a collaborative and growing team, supporting the delivery of complex schemes through accurate estimating, cost analysis, and tender preparation.

Performance Objectives

Assist with the preparation of estimates, cost plans, and tender submissions for public-sector and refurbishment projects.

Support the production and maintenance of project budgets, take-offs, and cost breakdowns under the guidance of senior estimators.

Help compile 2-stage tendering documentation and design & build tender packages.

Maintain accurate records of all estimating information, ensuring data is up to date and easily accessible.

Liaise with internal teams and subcontractors to obtain pricing, clarification, and supporting documentation.

Assist with updating trackers and schedules to ensure all estimating deadlines are met.

Support senior estimators with ad-hoc reporting, bid submissions, and project analysis.

Learn and develop familiarity with estimating software, document management systems, and industry-standard protocols.

Person Specification

Previous exposure to estimating, construction, or surveying (work experience, internships, or academic projects are all considered).

Basic understanding of construction processes and tendering, ideally including 2-stage or design & build projects.

Strong numerical and analytical skills with attention to detail.

Organised, proactive, and able to manage workload effectively.

Good communication skills and willingness to learn from experienced colleagues.

Professional and reliable approach with a strong desire to develop a career in estimating.
