SDWAN Network Engineer; L2

You will be responsible for the deployment activities of SD-WAN networks including the deployment of the hubs, the legacy interconnect to the new hubs and the templates for the site types through the pilot process. Technical oversight of the balance of the project installations is required. This will also entail the take on to the tooling and ensure that the necessary preparation work is done to enable the support processes.

Additional responsibilities will be to assist with escalations and problem management as required.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

· Create templates that can be used to push to all sites

· Configure entire management, monitoring and reporting using Fortinet tech tools (Fortianalyzer) and current monitoring tools

· Effectively create and utilize lab setups to duplicate and solve problems, validate planned changes to software and hardware design.

· Assist with implementation of upgrades and enhancements to WAN services, including communications, preparation of documentation and training

· Review and/or vet technical functional specifications and low-level network solutions design documentation, ensuring those are complete, correct and kept current

· Primary responsibility for the implementation of the Hubs, Interconnect and Pilot sites

· Execute test plans and logs results. Gather supporting documentation such as installation photos and speed tests

· Work with Field Technicians across South Africa, as well as related Engineering departments and centres, to maintain communications regarding work orders/projects. Instruct the field engineers and assurance team on installation steps

· Interface with customers in regard to acceptance testing of SDN Overlay and Wireless Backup services. Execute test plans and logs results.

· Execute Change of Service requests through the SDN Service platform. Validate functionality after changes made to ensure customer satisfaction

· Position occasionally requires providing engineering-level support for Operations, including maintenance windows/off-hour support

· Provide rotational after hours escalation services

· Interface with customers to understand Change of Service requests

· Collaborate with cross-organizational teams to promote efficient business processes

· Coordinate and implement patches or upgrades in the production environment to resolve systemic or client specific problems

Academic Qualifications and Certifications:

· A qualification (certificate/degree/diploma) in Information Technology or Computer Science or related field

· Pertinent Technology specific certifications – intermediate – Cisco CCNA

Required Experience:

· Work experience in a technical implementation engineering or similar role – 4-5 years working with Fortinet, Cisco, Palo Alto or Velo Cloud would be an advantage

· Intermediate understanding of SD-WAN

· Understanding of IPT
