Position: Marine Water Quality Officer - 32656

Job Overview

Marine Water Quality Officer - 32656 at Environment Agency. Two positions: one permanent and one fixed‑term for 6 months. Based in EA Office, national role with flexible hybrid location.

Responsibilities
  • Provide timely answers to technical questions.
  • Review reports and summarize key information for decision-making.
  • Use data to inform water quality models.
  • Apply sound records management principles.
  • Interpret monitoring data and model outputs to support environmental protection.
  • Summarize and communicate technical work and escalate challenges when needed.
  • Build strong relationships across a dispersed team and with external partners.
  • Use initiative to contribute to the work of the team and wider organization.
  • Take incident management duties as required (with training and support, possible additional payment).
Qualifications & Experience
  • Degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline (water quality, marine environment, environmental science, engineering).
  • Experience in data analysis and some knowledge of modelling software. Familiarity with tools such as Excel, Access, R, Power BI, GIS and specialist packages like Mike or Cormix is an advantage.
  • Ability to review complex reports and clearly communicate key issues to non‑technical audiences.
  • Experience working in a virtual team and willingness to travel for occasional national meetings.
  • Possessing or working towards professional membership in the field is desirable.
