- Design, develop and maintain scalable backend applications and services
- Develop and maintain RESTful APIs and web services
- Write clean, maintainable, reusable and well-documented code
- Design, develop and optimize databases and data-access layers
- Integrate backend systems with third-party APIs, applications and services
- Implement appropriate authentication, authorization and data-security controls
- Troubleshoot, debug and resolve application and production issues
- Conduct unit testing, integration testing and performance testing
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to development standards and best practices
- Collaborate with frontend developers to ensure effective API and system integration
- Work with Dev Ops teams to support CI/CD pipelines, deployments and production environments
- Monitor application performance and identify opportunities for optimization
- Contribute to system architecture, technical documentation and solution design
- Participate in Agile ceremonies, sprint planning and technical discussions
- Maintain version control and development workflows using Git
- Support continuous improvement of development processes, tools and technical standards
- Bachelor's degree, diploma or equivalent qualification in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology or a related field
- 3+ years of professional backend development experience
- Experience with one or more of the following:
Java, C#, Python, Node.js, Type Script, or PHP - Experience with RESTful API development and microservices architecture
- Experience with relational and/or No
SQL databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server, MongoDB) - Experience with Git, CI/CD pipelines, Docker, and containerization
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Microsoft Azure or Google Cloud
- Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities
- Excellent programming and debugging skills
- Strong understanding of backend architecture and development principles
- Attention to detail and commitment to code quality
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Ability to manage priorities and meet project deadlines
- Continuous-learning mindset with an interest in emerging technologies
