General Practice Receptionist

Reception Duties Provide a warm and courteous welcome to patients and visitors, in person and over the telephone.

Deal with patient enquiries, making appointments, and processing repeat prescription requests in line with practice protocols.

Manage the appointment system efficiently to maximise the use of clinicians time.

Register new patients, ensuring that all required documentation and identification are completed accurately.

Receive, record, and distribute incoming mail, emails, and faxes appropriately.

Maintain confidentiality and adhere to the practices data protection and safeguarding policies at all times.

Administrative Support Update and maintain accurate patient records using the clinical system (e.g.

EMIS). Support the clinical team by preparing notes, filing results, and ensuring that relevant information is available for consultations.

Process referrals, test results, and other administrative tasks as required.

Assist with recall systems for chronic disease management and routine health checks.

Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and audits as required.

General Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure effective team working and a positive working environment.

Adhere to practice policies, procedures, and NHS standards.

Undertake other duties appropriate to the role as requested by the Practice Manager.
