Salary:
Between £28,000 to £32,000 per annum (dependent on experience and qualifications, not pro rata)

Location:

Bolton, Hybrid 2 office working days

Contract:

Permanent

Hours:

37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday

The role

We are seeking an experienced Payroll Coordinator to join our busy and supportive payroll team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-focused payroll professional who has hands-on experience with the Teachers’ Pension Scheme (TPS) and is confident managing end-to-end payroll processes.

What you'll do:

Processing monthly payrolls accurately and on time for a multi-site workforce

Managing all aspects of Auto enrolment and Teachers’ Pension administration, including starters, leavers, contributions, and monthly returns

Ensuring compliance with HMRC legislation and internal policies

Responding to employee payroll queries and providing excellent customer service

Supporting year-end activities, including P60s, P11

Ds, and reconciliation tasks

Assisting with audits and continuous improvement initiatives within the payroll function

What we're looking for:

Demonstrable experience in payroll for a large number of employees.

Teachers’ Pension Scheme experience preferable but not essential

Strong understanding of PAYE, NI, statutory payments, and pension regulations

Strong mathematical understanding with the ability to perform accurate numerical calculations and reconciliations

Previous experience with Access (PXD) payroll software is preferable but not essential

High level of accuracy, confidentiality, and attention to detail

Excellent communication and organisational skills, with a caring and supportive attitude

Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines
