We are seeking a technically‑minded Technical Sales Engineer to join a leading manufacturing business based in Bolton. This full‑time role is ideal for someone who thrives on problem‑solving, building strong relationships, and driving business success.

In this position, you will act as a key point of contact for customers and collaborate closely with Engineering and Production teams to deliver accurate, practical solutions. You will visit customer sites, present proposals, understand technical requirements, and ensure projects are delivered to the highest standard.

This role offers the opportunity to combine engineering expertise with commercial insight to support both internal teams and external clients in developing and delivering tailored solutions. You will make a tangible impact on customer satisfaction, contribute directly to business growth, and shape technical projects while driving new business initiatives.

Working hours are Monday to Thursday 07:30 to 16:00 and Friday 07:30 to 12:50, totalling 38 hours per week. A pool car is provided for travel to customer sites across the UK. The salary for this position is £38,000 to £45,000 per annum, depending on experience.

Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and deliver proposals, technical quotations, and presentations to clients.
  • Create accurate quotations that reflect customer requirements and technical specifications.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with new and existing clients, identifying opportunities for new projects or applications.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering and production teams to design bespoke technical solutions.
  • Track industry trends and identify high‑growth sectors for business development.
  • Maintain a structured CRM pipeline to manage client interactions and project progress.
  • Produce sales reports to track performance, opportunities, and progress.
  • Visit customer sites across the UK, providing technical guidance and support for project implementation.
  • Ensure all technical documentation is accurate and up to date.
  • Use technical knowledge and commercial insight to influence customer outcomes and drive business growth.
Qualifications:
  • HNC or degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or related Engineering discipline or on‑the‑job experience.
  • Experience in customer‑facing technical or sales roles.
  • Strong IT skills including Microsoft Office and familiarity with CRM systems.
  • Experience with Solid Works or project management is desirable.
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and multi‑project management skills.
  • Commercial awareness and a proactive approach to problem solving.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 standards within Manufacturing or Engineering.
  • Full UK driving licence (required for use of the pool car).
