Practice Nurse Manager

Job Summary

Experienced Practice Nurse required for Alastair Ross Medical Practice, located in Breightmet Health Centre. Must have prior general practice experience and proficiency with EMIS Web software.

• Provide full range of nursing clinics and services on‑site at Alastair Ross Medical Practice, ensuring safe, effective, patient‑centred care.
• Visit Tameside practices at least twice per week to deliver on‑site leadership, mentorship and support to the nursing teams.
• Monitor, review and enhance nursing performance across sites, ensuring compliance with practice policies, CQC requirements and national guidelines; support professional development.
• Attend weekly managerial meetings in Tameside (morning) to contribute to operational planning and service improvements.
• Conduct health assessments, triage patients, administer childhood and travel vaccinations, wound care, cervical screening, B12 injections and other procedures.
• Support chronic disease management programmes (diabetes, asthma, COPD, hypertension, cardiovascular).
• Handle phlebotomy, draw bloods and maintain accurate, up‑to‑date records using electronic systems.
• Manage infection control, maintain clinical equipment and participate in quality improvement activities, audits and reviews.
• Provide health promotion, lifestyle guidance, smoking cessation, weight‑management advice and participate in QOF targets.
• Lead and oversee Infection Prevention and Control across the surgery.

• Registered Nurse (RN/RGN/RMN/RNLD) with current NMC registration.
• Evidence of ongoing professional development and revalidation.
• Accredited cervical cytology screening training (current).
• Immunisation and vaccination training (childhood, anaphylaxis).
• Chronic disease management training in diabetes, asthma, COPD, hypertension, cardiovascular.

• Clinical leadership or management training.
• Training in infection prevention and control (IPC).
• Safeguarding adults and children (Level
  3).
• Basic life support and CPR training.

• Previous experience working in a GP surgery or primary care setting.
• Competence in performing cervical smears, routine and seasonal immunisations, QOF target achievement, B12 injections, chronic disease management and phlebotomy.

• 6 weeks annual leave.
• NHS Pension Scheme membership.

Permanent contract, full‑time, salary £27 per hour.
