** Metsä Is recruiting for a Quality Specialist to join our team in Boston, Lincolnshire!
**** The Role
** Working as part of the Operations Department within Metsa Wood UK Ltd and reporting to the site General Managers the successful candidate will ensure compliance with Metsä Group’s quality standards, certifications (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, FSC, PEFC), and customer specifications.
The Quality Specialist will oversee all aspects of quality assurance and control within the timber upgrading mills and lines. This role ensures that all timber products meet industry standards, customer specifications, and regulatory requirements. The position involves developing and implementing quality systems, monitoring production processes, and driving continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality and operational efficiency. This work will be conducted across the UK sites – both Boston and Kings Lynn, and involve working closely with the Operations, Procurement, SCP, and Commercial teams.
** Responsibilities
* ** Quality assurance and compliance* + Maintain and develop the site’s quality management system in line with ISO standards and Metsä Group policies + Act as the primary contact for certification audits and liaise with external auditors including CE Mark, Q Mark, Certifire Scheme for fire door linings, and ISO + Support product label compliance including CE, UKCA, and biocidal information including the management and analysis of supplier declarations of performance
* Audits and reporting* + Prepare evidence and documentation for internal and external audits including Quality, Ethical, Product, Sustainability, Chain of Custody, Environmental and Health and Safety compliance + Manage internal and external audits including non-conformances, corrective actions, and opportunities for improvement with all stakeholders
* Specification and standards management* + Review and maintain product specifications and develop relevant training for staff and customers + Managing and updating as required our Declarations of Performance for inhouse products + Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to validate and improve product specifications
* Operational quality control* + Oversee goods inspection and ensure raw materials, traded and finished goods meet quality standards + Manage blocked stock and write-off processes for non-conforming materials + Work with procurement team to drive improvements with materials and consumable suppliers + Supporting the NPD process so that our new products are supported with the right quality specifications and product certification
* Customer and supplier interaction* + Handle customer claims data and analyse trends to improve product quality + Communicate with suppliers regarding compliance and approval registers + Support in facilitating customer visits and completion of customer due diligence processes including online questionnaires and audits
