The Funding & Compliance Auditor supports the Shoots Training team by carrying out regular checks on learner files and documentation to ensure compliance with funding body requirements, including the Department for Education (DfE), Local Authorities (LA), and other partners. This role is focused on auditing learner evidence, identifying missing or incorrect information, and helping to maintain accurate and compliant records. Working closely with the Compliance and Quality teams, the postholder will play a key part in helping Shoots remain audit ready at all times.
Essentialskills & experience
- Experience in an administrative and data quality role (education or training environment preferred).
- Understanding of record‑keeping, document control, or audit processes.
- Familiarity with apprenticeship and funded learning documentation (desirable but not essential).
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good organisational and time management skills.
- Confident with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word.
- Able to follow procedures and meet deadlines.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills.
- Level 3 qualification in Business Administration, Data or similar - or willingness to work towards.
- Functional Skills Level 2 or above in English and Maths.
Duties & Responsibilities Funding Compliance
- Review learner files to ensure all required documents are complete, accurate, and compliant with funding guidance.
- Check eligibility evidence, learner agreements, reviews, and completion documents against DfE and LA requirements.
- Record audit findings accurately using agreed checklists and templates.
- Escalate compliance issues or missing information to the relevant team members for action.
- Support the team in maintaining up‑to‑date audit logs and compliance trackers.
- Carry out routine sample checks on learner files and data held in the Management Information System (MIS).
- Maintain clear and organised records of audit findings and completed reviews.
- Support the Compliance and Quality teams in following up on outstanding actions.
- Assist in the collection and organisation of documents for funding claims or reviews.
- Work collaboratively with delivery, admin, and MIS teams to ensure documents are corrected promptly.
- Support the rollout of funding and compliance updates to staff when required.
- Contribute to the ongoing improvement of compliance processes by highlighting recurring issues or trends.
- Attend internal quality or audit meetings when required.
- Report audit findings to the Compliance Lead.
