Position: Assistant Accountant (Permanent)
Assistant Accountant. Bournemouth. Salary: £30-35K

Role:
Venture Recruitment Partners are supporting a fast-paced, privately-backed SME, based in Bournemouth, with their recruitment for a newly-created Assistant Accountant position.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a solid foundation in finance who enjoys variety, responsibility, and working in a collaborative environment where you supported and treated as a valued employee.

You will support the day-to-day financial operations, working closely with the Financial Controller and the wider finance team. You'll help maintain accurate financial records, support month-end processes, and ensure the smooth running of accounting and reporting activities.

Key Responsibilities:

Preparing and completing regular bank, client, and control account reconciliations

Investigating and resolving reconciliation discrepancies in a timely manner

Processing supplier invoices, staff expenses, and payments

Managing debtor and creditor ledgers and ensuring balances are up to date

Recording and maintaining prepayments and accruals in line with month-end procedures

Reviewing employee expense claims and reconciling corporate card transactions

Assisting with month-end journals, reconciliations, and management reporting

Experience /

Qualifications:

1–3 years’ experience in a finance or accounting role, ideally within financial services, lending or property finance

Experience using Xero or Sage and strong Excel or skills

Highly organised with excellent attention to detail

Strong interpersonal communication
