About the role
We’re making a significant investment in pricing capability with a comprehensive pricing transformation programme. This includes the implementation of new pricing software, market‑leading modelling, and performance monitoring approaches. Our pricing structure is more aligned to focus on the key disciplines of technical pricing, market pricing and pricing governance. As a result, several vacancies have arisen, with a need for strong data science, actuarial and governance skills.
Do you have an interest in technical pricing? If you have knowledge of actuarial techniques, including reserving, this could be the role for you. You’ll build and evolve risk models, continually improving the predictiveness of claims across Individual, SME and Corporate portfolios. You’ll use both traditional and emerging data science techniques, enabling more accurate pricing. You’ll carry out analysis of risk mix, claims trends, inflation and new treatment costs to facilitate alignment with the Reserving and Claims Analytics teams.
Monitor model performance and share insights with key stakeholders.

- Contributing to documentation required for model approval before deployment.
- Reporting on agreed model performance key performance indicators (KPIs) at appropriate frequency.
- Ensuring modelling data meets required quality criteria, highlighting gaps and proposing solutions.
- Testing new data sources, including internal customer data and external data, factors and feature engineering to enhance model predictiveness.
- Carrying out analysis of risk mix, claims trends, inflation and new treatment costs to facilitate alignment with the Reserving and Claims Analytics teams.
- Supporting less experienced colleagues in model building, analysis and data work.
- Knowledge of claims data and machine learning modelling techniques, including GBMs, preferably with experience gained in the insurance industry.
- Experience of using Radar software or Python to build models is preferred.
- Demonstrable experience of Databricks and Power BI is preferred.
- Knowledge of actuarial techniques including reserving.
- Awareness of the regulatory environment in which AXA Health operates and the dynamics of large organisations.
- Outstanding communication skills and ability to grasp and explain a range of technical concepts to business stakeholders.
- Solution focused, with a strong focus on delivery, and desire for continuous improvement.
- Appreciation of the benefits, value and need for collaboration.
- Competitive annual salary dependent on experience.
- Annual company & performance‑based bonus.
- Contributory pension scheme (up to 12% employer contributions).
- Life Assurance (up to 10 × annual salary).
- Private medical cover.
- 25 days annual leave plus Bank Holidays.
- Opportunity to buy up to 5 extra days leave or sell up to 5 days leave.
