Housing Options Officer – Criminal Justice Specialist – 2 yr FTC
BCP Council invites applications for a two‑year fixed‑term contract Housing Options Officer – Criminal Justice Specialist. The role offers a pro‑rata pay range of £33,699–£39,152.
Key Responsibilities- Provide specialist advice on complex housing options and homelessness prevention.
- Hold a caseload, conduct legal assessments and decide on housing or homelessness applications.
- Refer households in housing need to specialist providers and lead multi‑agency case meetings.
- Act as housing lead for serious domestic abuse, child protection, and adult safeguarding cases.
- Maintain professional development, record keeping, and confidentiality procedures.
- Respond to routine and non‑routine correspondence, produce statistical reports, and attend emergencies.
- Level 4 diploma or equivalent experience.
- Significant customer‑service and professional‑advice experience in housing or a related sector.
- Experience working with vulnerable clients, managing a caseload, and developing support plans.
- Team working and multi‑agency working experience.
- Strong interpersonal, negotiation and conflict‑management skills.
- Ability to solve complex problems, organise a diverse workload, and work independently.
- Knowledge of adult safeguarding, child protection, and domestic abuse issues.
- Effective use of casework management systems, enthusiasm, and commitment to supporting households.
- Understanding and commitment to diversity and equal opportunities.
Part‑time or full‑time flexible working arrangements are available. A full driving licence and access to a vehicle is preferred.
