About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Estimator to join a well-established M&E contractor based in Bracknell. You will take a key position within the pre-construction team—working closely with the Estimating Manager, Project Managers, and commercial leadership to produce accurate, competitive cost estimates across electrical building services projects.

This senior role requires a strong technical background, excellent commercial awareness, and the ability to lead tender processes from initial enquiry through to final submission.

Key Responsibilities

* Prepare detailed, accurate electrical cost estimates using Excel and digital take-off/estimating tools.

* Interpret electrical drawings, specifications, schematics, and technical documents to fully understand project scope.

* Lead tender and bid processes—compile documentation, manage submissions, and coordinate with clients, consultants, and subcontractors.

* Maintain up-to-date knowledge of supplier rates, material costs, electrical plant, and market pricing.

* Drive value engineering discussions to identify cost-effective and compliant alternatives.

* Attend client meetings, site visits, and clarification sessions to support bid accuracy and technical alignment.

* Maintain internal estimating records, databases, and supplier directories.

* Support and mentor junior estimators and contribute to the ongoing improvement of estimating procedures.

Essential

Qualifications & Skills

* Significant experience in electrical estimating within the building services/M&E sector (typically 5+ years).

* Strong technical understanding of electrical systems, including LV distribution, containment, lighting, fire alarms, controls, and associated services.

* High proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience using digital take-off or electrical estimating software.

* Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with confidence when liaising with clients, suppliers, and project teams.

* Strong analytical ability, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to handle multiple bids simultaneously.

* Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative, high-performing team.

Desirable Experience

* Experience with advanced estimating platforms beyond Excel.

* Understanding of pre-designed vs. design & build estimating methodologies.

* Involvement in complex value engineering exercises and cost–benefit reviews.

* Experience working on healthcare, education, commercial, or public sector electrical installations.
