Microbiologist - Research Scientist

Our client, a leading organization in agricultural research and development, is seeking a passionate Microbiologist - Research Scientist to join their dynamic Microbiology team.

About Us

At our client's facility, they are at the forefront of groundbreaking research aimed at discovering new active ingredients and formulation technologies. With a focus on biological-based technologies, they believe that microbials and biomolecules will play a pivotal role in the future of crop protection.

Role Purpose

As a Microbiologist - Research Scientist, you will collaborate with our molecular microbiology team to:

  • Aid in the physiological and genomic characterisation of microbes for crop protection applications.
  • Support projects from lead generation to development.
  • Execute work packages that address key knowledge needs with guidance from science and project leads.
Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and execute work programmes to deliver on project goals, utilising your expertise and existing knowledge.
  • Document workflows, procedures, and data while producing reports for stakeholders to inform decision‑making.
  • Engage in collaborative efforts to achieve project deliverables.
  • Promote a safe and effective work environment by adhering to high personal standards and advising colleagues on health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards.
What We're Looking For
  • A PhD in Molecular Microbiology or a related field, or a BSc with 2‑4 years of hands‑on experience in molecular microbiology, microbial characterisation, or microbial physiology.
  • Experience in the classification of microorganisms is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of genomics, phylogeny, or bioinformatics data analysis is a plus.
  • Proficiency in culturing and working with either fungi or bacteria.
