On behalf of our client located just west of the GTA, we are seeking an experienced Shipper/Receiver. This position is running the Shipping and Receiving department for the production facility of a world-class manufacturer of custom equipment
Job Summary:
The Shipper/Receiver will play an integral role in getting products to our customers on time. You will have the opportunity to work as part of a team and strengthen valuable skills including organization, communication, and attention to detail.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Process all shipping documents for domestic, US and overseas.
Determines method of shipment and prepares bills of lading, invoices, and other shipping documents.
Estimates freight or postal rates and records shipment costs and weights.
Checks import or export documentation to determine cargo contents and use tariff coding system to classify goods according to fee or tariff group.
Negotiates and arranges transport of goods with shipping or freight companies.
Arranges insurance coverage for goods.
Installs straps, braces, and padding to loads to prevent shifting or damage during shipment.
Directs and participates in cargo loading to ensure completeness of load and even distribution of weight.
Examines shipment contents and compares with records such as manifests, invoices, or orders to verify accuracy.
Tracks delivery progress of shipments and keeps records of all goods shipped.
Ensuring timely, accurate and efficient management of the stock receipt process and cycle count process to achieve target inventory accuracy.
Ensure materials are checked against vendors’ invoice/packing list, bills of lading, customer supplied orders, PO requirements, damages.
Ensure Subcon process is followed.
Ensure internal and external flow of material is maintained and accurate.
Follow customer return process.
Investigate, analyze, and resolve issues throughout resolution.
Contribute to continuous improvement, including safety, 5S, and best practices.
Other duties as assigned by management.
Requirements:
Physical:
o Sitting, Standing, and Walking.
o Carrying, Stooping, Lifting and Reaching.
o Lifting Requirements:
Up to 50 pounds.
Mental
o Attention to detail
o The use of the English language, both Oral and Written.
o Requires daily communication with multiple departments to ensure maximum
efficiency
Education & Training:
Previous Certification Forklift and Overhead Crane
Working knowledge of ERP system
Proficiency in Microsoft office
5S and lean manufacturing
Skills & Experience:
3+ years of experience in or working with manufacturing operations
3+ years of experience international customs paperwork
2+ years of experience with ERP system
2+ years of experience with external Logistics websites (Fed Ex, UPS, Purolator)
Exceptional communication and technical skills
Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills
Self-starter who takes initiative and maintains excellent follow-through and follow-up.
Perform well in a fast-paced environment and can multitask with ease.
Working Conditions:
Hours of operation: 10:00am to 6:30pm
