Position: 2026 Summer Mechanical Engineering Intern

Location: Brandon, Manitoba, Canada

Term: 8-months (May-Dec 2026)

Your Job

At Koch Ag & Energy Solutions (KAES), the Engineering & Reliability Team supports the KAES manufacturing and terminal facilities in running a safe and reliable business. The team has diverse capabilities in mechanical engineering, materials science, electrical engineering, instrumentation engineering, project engineering, equipment condition assessment and nondestructive testing, and welding.

The Engineering & Reliability team is hiring an intern for Summer 2026 focused on mechanical design and analysis.

What You Will Do

  • Support the project engineering team by preparing project scopes, specifications, schedules, budgets, and funding requests.
  • Field verification of engineering drawings and field data collection for project planning and execution.
  • Assist other departments such as operations, Quality etc. with their engineering requests (RES).
  • Research and develop proposed solutions to technical issues/opportunities that are present across multiple manufacturing site
  • Collaborate on CAD modeling and technical documentation for equipment upgrades.
  • Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Currently enrolled as a 3rd or 4th year in a Mechanical Engineering degree or related degree, or alternative program. (e.g., 4 year college program, 2 year technical college program, certificate program, upskilling program, etc.)
  • Legal authorization to work permanently in Canada for any employer without requiring a visa transfer or visa sponsorship.
  • Physical Requirements
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated areas
  • Ability to climb up to 150 ft above ground level on occasion
  • Pass a pulmonary breathing test
  • Ability to make confined space entry on occasion
  • What Will Put You Ahead

  • Experience using CAD software or any other design software and tools for data analysis
  • Previous related co-op or internship experience
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
