Job Description
The Job MissionThis position is based in Bridgwater and follows a hybrid working model, with three days in the office and two days from home. Candidates must live within commutable distance or be open to relocation support to settle nearby. You’ll play a key part in ensuring mechanical engineering excellence within the Hinkley Point C project. Your future team will look to you to uphold safety, compliance, and technical rigour across mechanical equipment.
- Respond to general queries, non‑conformances, and exemption requests promptly and effectively
- Ensure compliance with strict safety and environmental regulatory requirements
- Review, challenge, and align design decisions with overall project strategies
- Coordinate technical support from external organisations and suppliers where needed
- Contribute to the resolution and closure of complex outstanding technical issues
- Assess and manage technical risks across the mechanical engineering scope
- Maintain strong working relationships with Responsible Designers and stakeholders
- Report operationally to the Engineering Lead and support project objectives
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Experience in mechanical design, installation, and/or commissioning
- Knowledge of BS, EN, or ASME industry standards
- Ability to independently manage and export technical issues
- Experience working in multidisciplinary technical environments
- Strong stakeholder management and communication abilities
- Understanding of welding techniques is an advantage
- Previous experience in a site-based engineering role
