Role title: Senior Data Analyst

TPR grade & pay group: R&O 8 - specialist

Directorate: Strategy, Policy and Analysis (SPA)

Starting salary: Salary from £52,611 per annum, dependent on skills and experience, plus excellent benefits package.

Contract type: Permanent

Location: Brighton/hybrid (6 days per month in the office)

Responsibilities

Do you have a strong passion for using analysis and evidence to influence policy and regulatory decisions? If so, you will support the delivery of better saver outcomes through impactful evidence, research, and analysis.

You will be responsible for delivering analytical projects across a range of regulatory areas. Examples of the type of work you may deliver include:

  • Helping TPR understand the future size and shape of the Defined Benefit and Defined Contributions pensions landscape.
  • Undertaking analysis to support new policy and regulation implementation (e.g., the Value for Money framework).
  • Developing new statistical publications.

As TPR’s regulatory needs evolve, you will flexibly pivot to focus on new work areas.

We are looking for collaborative analysts comfortable working with stakeholders across TPR. You will also work with junior analysts, providing leadership and guidance on scoping projects and analytical delivery.

  • Postgraduate education in a relevant subject (e.g., numerical or subject with a significant component of statistics) or equivalent professional experience.
  • Experience in using own judgement to define and deliver analytical projects and develop insights in a regulatory or policy environment.
  • Strong communication skills to explain how analysis and evidence can inform regulatory strategy and operations.
  • Experience of developing analysis in collaboration with stakeholders and working effectively within a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Proficiency in R or Python.
  • Experience handling large datasets and at pace understand the structure of complex data warehouses, and assess data limitations.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the UK pensions industry.
  • Practitioner level knowledge of Git.
  • Azure Dev Ops , and AGILE or Dev / Data Ops workflow methodologies.
Team

The Strategy, Policy, and Analysis directorate plays a pivotal role in shaping the future of the pensions market by developing a regulatory framework that enables market innovation, and for strategic development and implementation across TPR.

As our creative engine, it brings together strategy, policy, economics, external risk, and analysis, and user insights generated from our colleagues in Compliance & Enforcement Group and Market Oversight, as well as external sources, to evolve our regulatory framework and best direct our resources towards mitigating risks and delivering good saver outcomes.
