Job Title: Clinical Fellow in Renal Medicine
Location: Southmead Hospital, North Bristol NHS Trust
Contract: 6‑month post with possibility of extension.

Job OverviewWe wish to appoint a Clinical Fellow in Renal Medicine for 6 months. The post is neither Royal College nor Postgraduate approved for training, but is educationally sound and well supported, with excellent opportunities for gaining clinical experience in Renal Medicine.
Full registration with the GMC is essential. Experience and familiarity with UK hospital systems and practices or equivalent is essential. Some prior experience in renal medicine is also required.
Responsibilities- Inpatient ward duties
- Daytime emergency duties as the on‑call bleep holder
- Outpatient clinics (including transplantation, dialysis, general and sub‑specialty nephrology and satellite clinics)
- Procedures as part of renal medicine training
- Training and experience will be gained in all aspects of renal medicine commensurate with a large renal unit providing tertiary level care
- Participation on a complex hybrid on‑call rota with 12 slots covering renal medicine only; occasional blocks of resident night shifts
- MBBS (or equivalent)
- Full registration with the GMC
- Passed all stages of MRCP
- Completed pre‑registration year (or equivalent outside the UK)
- Experience and familiarity with UK hospital systems and practices (or equivalent)
- Completed IMT stage 1 training (or equivalent)
- Previous experience working in renal medicine
- Desirable: Higher academic qualification (MD or MSc), ALS Certification
- Understanding of the principles of clinical audit or Quality Improvement (QI)
- Desirable: Experience in audit/ QI project and written work; demonstration of involvement in clinical directorate management
- Evidence of teaching experience
- Interest in research
- Desirable: Evidence of relevant publications in peer reviewed journals, proven track record in research
