SummaryWe are seeking a full‑time Principal Structural Engineer with strong design background to support our structural engineering team in Bristol and Plymouth. The team undertakes a wide variety of projects for the private and public sector, across a range of development sectors. We seek to provide integrated solutions incorporating state‑of‑the‑art design.
Responsibilities- Assist in the design and management of structural engineering works associated with major and challenging infrastructure projects for the private and public sector.
- Strengthen our design and delivery capacity with experience in a broad range of projects.
- Carry out the design process throughout all stages from concept to delivery, manage small teams, and manage other design disciplines.
- Build good relationships with other disciplines.
- Take individual responsibility for a range of project types, manage them independently, and serve as the client’s main point of contact.
- Lead on technical aspects including preparing designs, specifications, technical approval submissions, and site supervision.
- Collaborate with senior management on research projects and innovative initiatives.
- Be a chartered civil or structural engineer (CEng and either MICE or MIStruct).
- Have good interpersonal and communication skills, ability to work independently, a collaborative approach and a proven ability to deliver work on time.
- Be confident working directly with clients, other design professionals, and contractors.
- Have strong experience and demonstrate skills in producing drawings, specifications, calculations and technical reports.
- Have technical knowledge including use of industry‑standard software (ideally Tekla/Robot) and basic ability with Revit.
- Have sound experience of commercial management of projects and change control.
- Be committed to encouraging good health and safety practices within the workplace and design.
- Display enthusiasm, flexibility, and versatility as a team player.
- Be able to mentor, enthuse and support team members.
- Have a desire to build upon existing experience and continue professional development with Tetra Tech.
- Hold a full UK Driving Licence.
- Have the ability to obtain UK security clearance.
