Simulation, Modelling and Control Engineers

Permanent position in the Bristol area, focusing on marine and defence projects.

Multiple Simulation, Modelling and Control Engineers are required within an Advanced Aerospace, Marine and Defence Services Organisation. The role will suit an engineer looking to diversify or develop their experience and work within a team responsible for producing models at vehicle and system level representing plant and control algorithms.

The Simulation, Modelling and Control Engineers will use the Math Works tool set, including Simulink and associated toolboxes, and a good understanding of version control software (e.g. GIT) and task management tools as part of collaborative working is required.

The Simulation, Modelling and Control Engineers are expected to have industrial engineering experience using modelling for development and analysis of complex systems.

Responsibilities
  • Develop task definition (together with the technical lead)
  • Define model and control algorithm requirements
  • Build, evaluate and test system models
  • Peer review of system models
  • Prepare and present results and system models to customers
  • Formal verification and validation of system procedures
  • Author system model and technical documentation
Skills, Qualifications and Experience
  • Degree qualified (or equivalent) in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Mathematics
  • Good understanding of fundamental modelling principles
  • Knowledge of MATLAB/Simulink, actuation systems, electromechanical systems, multibody simulation, vehicle dynamics, and systems engineering
  • Experience relevant to the marine sector, real‑time models, code generation, C/C++ is desirable
  • Professional attitude with strong time management and organisational skills

Flexible working may be available with a hybrid working model for part of the week.
