Job Description

We are looking for a full‑time Senior Structural Engineer to join our team working on Nuclear New Build projects, specifically focusing on Nuclear Island buildings of Hinkley Point C, Sizewell C, and similar projects. You will reinforce your technical skills while cultivating strong working relationships in a multicultural environment to deliver outstanding results for our clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and lead an international team responsible for critical buildings within the Nuclear Island.
  • Design and analyse reinforced concrete structures for the Nuclear Buildings of EPR nuclear power plants.
  • Perform structural calculations and Finite Element modelling using ANSYS APDL or similar advanced software, ensuring compliance with applicable codes and standards such as Eurocode and ETC‑C.
  • Ensure structural integrity and resilience under various loads, including seismic, dynamic, impact of temporary works and environmental factors.
  • Collaborate with detailing, drafting, BIM coordinator, and technical direction teams to integrate design requirements.
  • Conduct calculations and structural assessments of design changes to determine impact and propose necessary design modifications.
  • Prepare detailed design drawings, specifications, and construction documentation.
  • Provide structural assessments and technical support during construction.
  • Work closely with contractors and site teams to resolve structural issues.
  • Provide guidance and support to junior engineers and draftsmen.
  • Collaborate with client, construction team, principal designer, regulatory bodies and authorities to ensure compliance with nuclear safety regulations and requirements.
Qualifications
  • Proven experience in Structural Civil Work, Civil Design, RC detailing, steel structures with ETT‑C or Eurocodes or other relevant codes.
  • Experience designing and analysing reinforced concrete structures for nuclear power plants, specifically European Pressurized Reactors (EPR).
  • Knowledge of nuclear safety principles, regulations and standards governing nuclear plant structures.
  • Proficiency using structural analysis software such as ANSYS, SAP
    2000, or similar tools.
  • Familiarity with finite element software such as ANSYS APDL, Robot, or similar.
  • Strong understanding of seismic analysis and design principles for nuclear structures.
  • Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, contractors, and regulatory authorities.
  • Experience designing and constructing reinforced concrete structures in a nuclear or high‑risk industry preferred.
  • Knowledge of construction processes, materials and quality control procedures related to nuclear structures.
  • Professional licensure or chartership advantageous.
  • Experience providing on‑site design support.
  • Experience with 3D BIM modelling such as TEKLA, Navisworks a plus.
