Senior Planner – Rail & Civil Engineering

Location:

Bristol (Hybrid working available)

Salary: £65-75,000 per annum plus additional benefits

We are seeking an experienced Senior Planner with a strong background in civil engineering, ideally within rail infrastructure projects, to join our growing team in Bristol. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in the successful planning and delivery of complex, high-profile rail projects across the UK.

The Role

As a Senior Planner, you will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and monitoring project programmes, ensuring effective control of time, resources, and risk throughout the project lifecycle. You will work closely with project managers, engineers, and stakeholders to provide accurate planning insight and support informed decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

* Develop and manage detailed project programmes using industry-standard planning software (e.g. Primavera P6, Asta Power project).

* Produce baseline, progress, and forecast programmes for rail and civil engineering works.

* Carry out critical path analysis, progress updates, and reporting.

* Identify programme risks and opportunities, supporting mitigation and recovery planning.

* Support tender planning, change control, and claims where required.

* Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders to ensure programme alignment.

About You

* Proven experience in a planning role within civil engineering, ideally rail infrastructure projects.

* Strong working knowledge of planning methodologies and best practice.

* Proficiency in planning software such as Primavera P6 and/or Asta Power project.

* Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

* Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team.

* Degree (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering or a related discipline is desirable.
