Base pay range: £70,929 – £86,691 per annum.
Location: Bristol (UK).
Working pattern: Hybrid – at least 2 days per week (40% of time) at an office site.
About This OpportunityPersonalised Experiences and Communications (PEC) is a business platform within Consumer Relationships. PEC delivers personalised customer communications and experiences across all channels, supporting the Group strategy of deepening customer relationships in both retail and commercial banking.
This role is part of PEC’s Dev Ops team, where you will lead deployments, tooling, and quality practices across public and private cloud applications.
What You’ll Be Doing- Support build and deployment processes for applications on both private and public cloud (API‑based, event‑driven, batch processing).
- Deliver and maintain pipeline standards covering build, test, security, performance, and release processes.
- Implement Dev Ops and infrastructure tooling such as Jenkins, Git Hub, Harness, Docker, Istio, and continuously improve our platforms.
- Build and deploy automation and observability solutions (logging, monitoring, metrics, alerting).
- Support cross‑functional agile teams on latest technologies.
- Iterate best practices to increase the quality and frequency of deployments.
- Improve knowledge sharing across engineering teams.
- Software or data engineering background with experience in Java, Python, and bash scripting.
- Proven knowledge of modern engineering practices for streaming, databases, ETL pipelines, and orchestration tools such as Airflow.
- Experience with Dev Ops tools: CI/CD (Jenkins, Sonar, Nexus, Git, Docker), test automation (JUnit, Cucumber, Selenium, Postman, K6/JMeter).
- Strong enthusiasm for collaborating with engineers and building a positive team culture.
- Proven experience innovating automation to improve release frequency, resilience, and promote a Dev Ops culture.
- Exposure to cloud technology (ideally GCP) and databases (Postgres), batch and event streaming (Kafka, Pub/Sub).
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) such as Terraform.
- Exposure to data lineage tooling.
