Legal and Compliance Associate

Ed and Talk Type are used by many educators, professionals, and businesses to reduce meeting fatigue, improve communication, and make everyday interactions more inclusive.

As we grow, staying secure, compliant, and legally confident is critical - and that’s where you come in.

Where you come in

We’re looking for a curious, pragmatic Legal and Compliance Associate to support and shape Care Scribe’s legal and compliance operations.

You’ll help us keep contracts, audits, data protection, and governance running smoothly while enabling our commercial growth. You’ll work across teams - liaising with legal counsel, sales, finance, IT, and operations - and help build processes that keep the business ahead of regulatory requirements.

This isn’t a solicitor or legal advice role. It’s ideal for someone with legal, risk, or compliance experience who wants to broaden their career in a fast-paced, mission-driven tech company.

What you’ll be doing

Legal and Contracts

* Manage and review key legal documents like NDAs, DPAs, MSAs, and vendor agreements.

* Support internal teams with legal and compliance questions.

* Maintain contract management systems and protect our IP.

* Escalate to external counsel when needed

Compliance and Risk

* Support data protection and regulatory compliance (GDPR, HIPAA, CCPA).

* Lead assessments like DPIAs for third-party vendors and maintain GDPR documentation

* Keep policies, risk registers, and compliance documentation up to date.

* Manage insurance documents, renewals, and claims.

Audits, Certifications and Reports

Prepare for and support certifications and audits (SOC 2, ISO 27001, B Corp).

Respond to due diligence requests from partners, customers, and investors.

Track ESG and impact metrics, and support relevant applications or awards.

You don’t need to tick every box, you’ll be supported to grow into areas where you’re less experienced.

About you

* You have some legal, paralegal, or compliance experience, or are a law graduate who’s moved into governance, operations, or risk.

* Comfortable with contracts, IP clauses, and basic compliance frameworks.

* Highly organised, methodical, and good at spotting risks before they become problems.

* Clear communicator - whether writing SOPs or explaining complex topics simply

* Collaborative and happy working across teams like sales and operations

* Confident learning new tools (Docu Sign, Vanta, Drata, Asana, Trello)

* Excited about building your career in legal ops, compliance, or governance

Nice-to-have:
Experience in tech/SaaS environments, certifications like CIPP/E, CIPM, ISO 27001 Lead Implementer, or ICA Certificate in Compliance.
