This role is dual banded pay bands 8 / 9 where pay band 9 represents fully meeting all competencies allowing for development within the role.

Were looking for a talented and driven Senior Data Analyst to join our data team. This is a fantastic opportunity to work at the heart of a data-led organisation helping shape the future of higher education through evidence-based regulation and strategy.

Youll work in a collaborative cloud-native environment alongside data engineers analysts and policy experts to deliver insights that inform decision-making and drive change.

The Office for Students (OfS) is the independent regulator of higher education in England. We regulate higher education on behalf of all students ensuring that every student regardless of their background has a fulfilling experience that enriches their lives and have high ambitions and offer great opportunities to get involved in bringing that vision to life.

• Design and implement analytical workflows to extract meaning from complex datasets.
• Use techniques including data transformation visualisation statistical modelling and data science to generate insights.
• Communicate findings clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Support the development of analytical methodologies systems and processes.
• Collaborate with Analytics Engineering and the wider organisation to ensure data meets business needs and is accessible via the OfS data model.
• Build and maintain self-service data applications for internal and external users.
• Advocate for an evidence-led culture and contribute to enhancing the organisations data capability.

• Adaptable and comfortable working in a fast-paced evolving environment.
• A strong communicator able to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
• Logical analytical and pragmatic in problem-solving.
• Experienced in working collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
• Familiar with the modern data stack and agile working practices.

• Strong SQL and / or Python (or equivalent language).
• Experience with application of artificial intelligence solutions statistical methods data modelling cleansing enrichment and / or visualisation.
• Knowledge of Databricks or similar platforms.
• Understanding of GIT and version control.
• Awareness of government DDAT capability framework for data analysts.
• Ability to manage projects and deliver at pace.
• Competency in communicating and influencing across diverse audiences.
